CSUR Collection

Welcome to the CSUR Collection of Microorganisms

CSUR (Collection de Souches de l’Unité des Rickettsies) is a biological resource center established in 2015 at the IHU Méditerranée Infection in Marseille, France. Our collection houses over 3 400 microbial strains spanning more than 620 species.

We specialize in preserving rare and fastidious microorganisms—many isolated for the first time through our pioneering culturomics approach—with particular expertise in Rickettsia, Bartonella, Coxiella, and human gut microbiota. Equipped with BSL-2 and BSL-3 facilities, advanced MALDI-TOF MS identification technology, and next-generation genome sequencing capabilities, the CSUR provides researchers and diagnostic laboratories worldwide with high-quality, well-characterized biological resources.

Our collection operates in full compliance with the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing.
